“I had a great experience with William from Straightrac. He completed a very thorough pre-purchase inspection on a vehicle I was considering, and I was extremely impressed with his attention to detail and professionalism. He took the time to go through the vehicle carefully, document his findings with photos and provide a detailed report. What I appreciated most was his willingness to answer my follow-up questions and take the time to explain his findings in greater detail. He was honest, knowledgeable and never made me feel rushed. His inspection gave me a much better understanding of the vehicle’s condition and helped me make a more informed purchasing decision. It’s clear that William takes pride in his work and genuinely looks out for his clients. I would highly recommend William and Straightrac to anyone considering a used vehicle. Money very well spent!”
“I used Straightrac for a vehicle I recently purchased. William did a thorough inspection and had a complete report for me which made my decision buying the car that much easier. I have peace of mind knowing that I made the right decision. I would highly recommend using them before buying any vehicle.”
“Buying a car is always scary because you never know what you will get. Calling Straightrac was so helpful because it gave me peace of mind. I got a full inspection in 45 min and felt assured that my car was in great condition before buying and worth the price of the car.”
“William is an amazing mechanic. After paying and signing the estimate, he was able to schedule the inspection with the dealership really fast and sent me a detailed report on the car. I will definitely work with him anytime I am thinking of buying a used car and I highly recommend his service. He is very professional, polite, and very responsive. He gives you time and make sure you understand what you are dealing with before making a decision.”
“Had the pleasure of working with William on an inspection, and his work was stellar! 👌🏿 No fluff or confusing technical jargon—just clear, straightforward explanations. My wife was with me, and we both understood everything he walked us through. His checks were thorough, and the final inspection report was detailed and easy to understand. Thanks again, Will! Highly recommend!”

The inspection is non-destructive: nothing is dismantled, and no trim, panels or sealed components are removed. The report records the vehicle's condition on the date and at the mileage shown in it. No inspection can find every hidden, intermittent or developing fault, or predict how long a part will last. A road test is carried out only where it is safe and the seller allows it. A fault code points to a problem but does not prove which part has failed, and recently cleared codes may not show. Service histories and CARFAX reports come from third parties and may be incomplete. The inspection is not a warranty or a guarantee of the vehicle, and it does not limit any right you have under Ontario law. Full terms

We work for the buyer, not the seller.
A safety certificate tells you whether the vehicle meets minimum safety requirements. We help you understand what you're actually buying.
The report is yours. You decide what to show the seller and what to use in the negotiation.
Commonly asked questions.
Is this a safety certificate?
No. A safety standards certificate confirms that the vehicle met the minimum safety standards on the date it was issued, and it's what lets the car be plated. A pre-purchase inspection covers the whole car: what's worn, what's been repaired, what the computer has logged, and what condition every system is in. Most buyers want both.
Do I need to be there?
No. If the inspection is paid in advance, William goes on his own. You're welcome to come along, and it can be helpful, because he'll show you what he's finding as he works. Either way you get the report, and William can go through it with you on the phone if you'd like.
How soon can you come, and when do I get the report?
Most inspections happen within 12 to 24 hours of booking, depending on the schedule; same-day is $50 extra. Once it's paid for, you receive the Buyer Report on the day of the inspection, and often within the hour.
What does the seller need to have ready?
The vehicle ownership and a working key. William checks the VIN on the ownership against the VIN on the car before he starts, so the inspection requires it. He'll also ask whether there are two working keys. Mention both to the seller when you agree on a time, and ask them for the VIN then too. William uses it to pull the car's service history before the inspection.
Where do you inspect the car?
We run mobile vehicle inspections across York Region, the GTA, Barrie and Innisfil, with no travel charge. Dealership lots, private driveways and parking garages all work. Further out, travel is $25 to $75 depending on the destination.
